In today’s social environment, filled with the Kardashians, the Hadids and the Jenners, it has become much more prevalent that there’s this constant pressure for us women to not only have to feel good about ourselves, but also look good.
I want to look just as good as the next woman and I’m pretty sure you want to as well.
Here’s a list of the 9 best weight loss tips that will help you (and even Kim Kardashian) lose weight, look good and feel confident. Shall we say lose all 20 pounds in a matter of just a couple weeks? Let’s get going.
1. Start slow and small
Have you ever tried a fad diet and put everything you had into following that diet only to find that you’ve fallen off the bandwagon after only a week? So many of us have been there and done that, so you are not alone. Want to know the reason for that constant falling off of the bandwagon?
Well, the reason is simple. Fad diets force us to start off too big and too quickly. We restrict ourselves far too much and when our cravings can’t hold off any longer, we give into them–and we don’t give in lightly. Before you know it, we’re on our kitchen floor with a double cheeseburger, French fries, and a large milkshake after a full week of eating straight salads.
Just like the reason, the solution is simple. Start slow and small. You’re much more likely to stick to a clean eating plan when you’re filling yourself up with foods that are healthy, yet full of flavor. The same goes for exercising. You don’t have to run seven miles your first day of working out. Start out with walking for 30 minutes a day. When that doesn’t get your heart rate up enough, move on to jogging. Then, when you’re ready for something more intense, move onto something like weight lifting.
2. Eat slowly
Whenever I eat too fast, I find that I also eat too much. The slower you eat, the easier your body and mind will be able to register the fact that you’re full. Once your body and mind alert you that you no longer need any more food to feel satisfied, you’ll stop eating and, therefore, eat less. Eating the correct portion sizes and stopping yourself from feeling overly full will help you to lose weight.
3. Throw away all unhealthy foods
If you’re trying to lose weight, you have no use for cookies, unhealthy chips, or anything of the sort. The only thing that those foods will do for you in the long run is make it take longer for you to reach your weight loss goals. So, get rid of them.
4. Eat more protein
Protein keeps you full for longer. So, if us women fuel our bodies with healthy proteins like lean meats, eggs, and Greek yogurt, we’re more likely to eat less during the day. We’re, therefore, more likely to accomplish our weight loss goals.
5. Workout with a friend
There’s no better motivation than a friend who’s after the same goals as you are. I, for one, love going for walks with my friends, with my mom, and even with my brother.
So many people use the excuse that they’re too busy to find much time to see their friends and family that when they do get free time, they’d rather go spend it socializing than exercising. Well, by working out with your friends and/or family, you can do both at the same time AND feel amazing afterwards! Yes, that’s right. We can still gossip about the Kardashians while we exercise! I love this weight loss tip!
6. Get more sleep
Sleep and weight loss are connected. In a recent study conducted by Purdue University, it found that when you don’t get enough sleep, your metabolism rate decreases by 30% and your hunger levels actually doubles. Furthermore, the study found that the increase in hunger levels is usually directed toward carbs. Eating too many carbs is definitely not good for weight loss.
So, remember, when trying to lose weight, it’s wise to follow this weight loss tip and set yourself an alarm for not just waking up, but for going to bed, too. This will ensure that you can get a full night’s sleep. And to get a better sleep, make sure you don’t do anything with a screen at least half an hour before you shut your eyes.
7. Drink more water
Water is the best weight loss tool for women and men alike, if you ask me. It fills you up so you’re less likely to over-eat, it costs so little, it’s almost always available regardless of where you are, and you can enjoy it so many different ways.
8. Always go grocery shopping after a meal
Shopping on an empty stomach can lead to the buying of junk foods that you shouldn’t be bringing into your home or eating while trying to lose weight. When you go to the grocery store on a full stomach rather than an empty and growling one, you’re more likely to keep your weight loss goals in mind and stay away from the junk food-filled middle of the store.
You’re more likely to shop around the perimeter and fill your cart with healthy, weight loss-inducing foods like fruits, veggies, and lean proteins. So, you’re more likely to achieve your weight loss goals on a full stomach!
